Responding to the allure of the "salt", The Rod Shop has been working on a project to create a Lakester-class car with the intent of bringing it to Bonneville. It's designated as: TRS-1 "Wingin' It"
About The Lakester
The body is a 50's vintage Canadian T-33 wing tank. The T-33 tank is smaller in
diameter but longer in length when compared to the P21 tank.
Registration No: 1957 ( a great year)
Class: GLXF
Engine: 286 cu. in. Ford flathead - naturally aspirated
Transmission: Ford 2-Speed Manual
The lakester is being built as true to its vintage origins as possible, with all the current safety regulations - and there's a lot. This adds to the difficulty of the build.
The chassis is custom built, in house, of rectangular tube rails and round tube framing. It is fitted with a solid rear axle and a quick change rear differential. Up fornt, we're running a traditional dropped axle and a transverse leaf spring. |
