A Tribute to The Original 1961 "Pineapple Princess"

About The Project
The Rod Shop has been commissioned to build a hot rod as a tribute to the oringinal "Pinapple Princess" which arrived on the Calgary hot rod scene in the early sixties. We understand that the name "Pineapple Princess" was not derived from the colour but from the hand grenade shift knob (dubbed the "pin and pineapple" design).

The original car, after leaving its original owner, moved around western Canada and is now part of a museum collection in Massachusetts. The Princess was powered by a 1953 Chrysler New Yorker Hemi, was built on a 1934 Ford frame and was painted in gold metalflake - one of the first in the Calgary area at the time.
